Hafdis Huld has had number one singles in Iceland, played Glastonbury, The Big Chill and supported Paolo Nutini but she remains a largely well kept secret in the UK. Playing the Glee Club, Birmingham on October 28 in a tiny venue 50 seater room to mark album 'Synchronised Swimmers', Hafdis gave a composed, confident and flawless vocal display of cheery contemporary pop that suggests she will fill larger venues on these shores in the future.

Taking to the stage in a cream cardigan and purple tights - which she confessed to having a paint stain on - and with her blonde bob and youthful prettiness, Hafdis looked a picture of innocence on stage. And her sweetly, sung, style of simple catchy acoustic music suited the image. Even when subject matters turned darker - such as on 'Plastic Halo' which Hafdis described as 'angry', with the chorus starting 'I hope you choke'- she still sang as a quirky 'butter wouldn't melt' peaceful pop princess.
